About Sproutful
Our Story
Sproutful began with Scotty — a young man with non-verbal autism — and the daily challenge of keeping everyone on the same page. As his friend and support worker, David saw how scattered notes, missing details, and inconsistent updates made it hard for both support workers and families to feel informed.
Scotty’s mum, Rosa, often felt disconnected from what was happening when they were apart. Paper notes weren’t enough — and there were no tools built for the realities of support work.
After completing a software development diploma, David decided to fix the problem instead of working around it. He teamed up with his best friend of 15 years, Timmey, and together they built the first version of Sproutful — a simple way to keep care teams organized and families always in the loop.
What started as a solution for one family is now helping many more.

David Tjomsland
Co-founder & Backend Developer
David is the co-founder of Sproutful. Previously a high school teacher and currently a support worker, David brings firsthand experience from both education and disability support. Working directly with families and support teams, David witnessed the daily challenges of care coordination — missing notes, unclear communication, and the frustration of not knowing what happened during the day. It was here that he developed a deep understanding of what families actually need. With a background in software development, David combines his technical skills with real-world care experience to build tools that solve genuine problems for families and support workers.
Timmey Ellefson
Frontend Developer
Timmey is the co-founder of Sproutful. He is a full-stack developer and designer who combines deep engineering expertise with a strong design eye. With years of experience building digital products, Timmey understands that great technology must be both powerful and accessible. Drawing on his technical skills and design sensibilities, he ensures Sproutful is not only functional but intuitive and beautiful to use. Timmey's focus is on creating user experiences that feel natural and effortless, making complex care coordination tools simple for everyone.
